THE TRUFFLE OF GOTLAND

The truffle is a subterranean fungus that lives in symbiosis with a tree. Noone really knows how the mythic truffle once came to Gotland. What we do know is that the island of Gotland fulfils a number of conditions necessary for the truffles excistance.

The truffle of Gotland is a black truffle known as the Burgundy truffle (lat. Tuber Aestivum syn. Tuber Uncinatum) Its scent and flavour is the exact equvalent of the Burgundy truffles of France and this gastronomic treasure of Gotland has been highly spoken of around the world.
