RESEARCH BROUGHT US THE TRUFFLE
The burgundy truffle has probably been hidden in the soils of Gotland for many thousands of years. The truffle has been a secret well kept by the boars, mice and other gourmets within the Gotland fauna. Though one or two strangely smelling black lumps have occasionally been found by gardeners it was not until the 1990s that we became aware of the presence of truffles here on Gotland.
It is only thanks to the research work done by Christina Wedén
that wild growing truffles can today be harvested all over Gotland. And - of course - enjoyed in the local restaurants.
